Description

You are bidding on a well-rooted cutting of Petite Negra that is growing vigorously in a 9" x 4" tree pot. This was started in December.

Petite Negra is a common type of fig and does not need pollination by wasps.

Petite Negra is an excellent fig variety for containers or small spaces since it is a natural dwarf variety. You can keep it smaller by using a smaller 5–7 gallon container and limiting fertilizers, or you can fertilize more heavily and get moderately vigorous growth. I have had heavier yields when I have allowed it to grow less, with less fertilizer.

Petite Negra is a popular "Bordeaux" variety, it is often considered to be a dwarf variety of Violette de Bordeaux. These figs are medium-sized and the flavor is sweet berry with a distinct something extra that is described as "Bordeaux."

Petite Negra produces a good set of brebas if protected from intense winter cold. (I keep mine in an unheated garage in zone 6B.) The main crop can be quite dense and ripens over the course of a few weeks. Fruits can partially dry on the tree, adding to the sweet jammy flavor.

I will be using USPS Ground Advantage and will send you a tracking number once your package has been shipped.

I ship out our plants Monday or Tuesday to ensure that there are no shipping delays.
