75 days to maturity.  Open-pollinated.  Bush type.  The classic heirloom variety, listed by Fearing Burr in Field and Vegetable Gardens of America in 1863.  Produces stunning black and white flowers that attract beneficial insects.  Strong upright plants up to 4' tall produce long pods filled with large edible beans; fantastic dried or eaten fresh as a shelled bean, even pickled.  Pick individual pods when the green shell beans inside are plump.  For dry beans, wait until pods are dry before harvest.  Brown seed.

Plant 1-2" deep, 3-4" apart, in rows 2-3' apart, as soon as ground can be worked.  Or plant in fall for overwintering.  Hardy into 20's.
