Comments about the varieties

(TP-FG-0001) UCD-West-Student-Farm
The mother tree is an unknown fig tree located in Davis, California. The origin of this variety is Armenia. The figs from the tree are of superior quality that often tastes like sweet butter with no acidity or berry taste. It also stores well in the refrigerator (more than 10 days). The tree produces few breba figs and abundant main crop. The figs dry very well on the tree.

(TP-FG-0002) UCD-Mini
The mother fig tree was discovered in Davis in Summer 2017. The tree produces few breba figs that are of small size and superior quality. The tree also produces moderate main crop figs with small to medium size, superior quality, and dry well on the tree.

(TP-FG-0003) Power-Line-Rd
The mother tree is an unknown fig tree located in Sacramento near a conservation at the bank of the Sacramento River. This one-crop fig tree is consistently super productive. The figs are very sweet and of superior quality. They dry very well on the tree and they are the best for making fig jam or for making dried figs using a dehydrator.

(TP-FG-0004) Yolo-Bypass
The mother tree was discovered near Sacramento in Summer 2017. The tree grows in the wild in an isolated area with no other fig trees nearby. The figs from the tree are of superior quality that tastes like sweet intense berry jam. It also stores well in the refrigerator (more than 10 days). Furthermore, the figs ripen on the counter if they are picked before ideal ripeness. I did not notice any breba figs on the tree and the main crop is produced in August and September. I have tasted more than 300 varieties so far and this Yolo-Bypass fig is in the top 5 for me.

(TP-FG-0005) Discovery-Park
The mother tree was found in Sacramento in Summer 2014. The figs from the tree are unique (especially the inside of the fig) and they do not look like any known fig variety. The figs are of very large size (often more than 100 grams) and complex flavor which is not that sweet. According to my preliminary experiments, leaving the figs on the tree to improve their sweetness often leads to spoiling the figs. The fig tree is very fast growing and it produces both breba and main crop figs from June until November.

(TP-FG-0008 FIG) Twin-Cities-Rd
This is an unknown fig tree that I discovered near Sacramento in Summer 2019. The tree is very productive and the figs from the tree are medium to large size, very sweet, honey-gel-type, and of excellent quality. I did notice few breba figs on the tree that did not develop. Hence, I assume that the tree has only main crop figs during the Summer. A special characteristic of the leaves of this tree is that they are very tough, and this implies that the tree can tolerate heat very well. Another characteristic of this tree is its superior ability to dry the figs on the tree.

(TP-FG-0009) Guttridge-Park
This is an unknown fig tree that I discovered near Sacramento in Summer 2019. The tree is very productive and the figs from the tree are of medium size, sweet, intense berry-type, dry well on the tree, and of excellent quality. The tree produces few breba figs that are also of good quality.

(TP-FG-0013) El-Camino-Ave
The mother tree is an unknown fig tree that I discovered near Sacramento in Summer 2017. The tree is very productive and the main crop figs are long black, large size, sweet, berry type, dry well on the tree, and of excellent quality. In my opinion, this is one of the best black figs available. This variety is somehow like TP-FG-0003 but this variety produces figs that are larger, more beautiful, and better taste. The tree did not produce any breba figs so far.

(TP-FG-0014) Azevedo-Trail
The mother tree is an unknown fig tree that I discovered near Sacramento in Summer 2017. The tree is very productive and the main crop figs are black, medium size, sweet, berry type, and of excellent quality. In my opinion, the inside of the fig is unique. The tree did not produce any breba figs so far.
