Description

PLEASE NOTE:  All potted figs MUST BE Bare-Rooted when shipped to TX, AZ, CA, NM, WA, OR, NV.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

One of our favorites!  This Southern heirloom queen is sure to please with it’s high quality, large fruit and adaption to the humid, wet, rainy, hot summers of the Southeast. Performed surprisingly well for us even in the very rainy summer of 2018. Along the sunny south side of our house it has thrived and it’s LARGE, plump figs begin ripening in September. Magnolia figs are large size for a cold hardy fig, as can be seen in the photos (a friend was amazed and said they resemble tropical figs). They quickly turn from green to a lovely reddish-magenta color when ripe. Fruits are firm, with a nice melting texture and great fig flavor; spicy and sweet. The fruit is resistant to mold, rotting, splitting after rain and fig rust (fungal disease of leaves). Really first class! Vigorous, robust and fast growing tree. This fig seems to need a long season to ripen it’s fruit well, so it seems most suited to a southern location. Cold hardiness is good but needs winter protection in zone 6-7. This fig would really shine anywhere south of Kentucky and TN, especially in the Deep South and Texas.

PLEASE NOTE:  If it is Autumn when you place your order then the plants leaves will be turning yellow and dropping.  Your figs may thus be dormant and leafless upon arrival, or may have a few leaves still but they will be ready to drop soon.
