Description

PLEASE NOTE:  All potted figs MUST BE BARE-ROOTED WHEN shipped to TX, AZ, CA, NM, WA, OR, NV.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

WOW.  Outstandingly tasty and rich flavor on this green fig, with far better eating quality than most. Strawberry red pulp with a thick, rich, luscious texture and great sweetness and complex flavor. Top notch. A smaller sized fig tree. Fruits are medium sized, plump and excellent. Birds don't notice this one as much due to the deceiving green/yellowish ripening color (not purple or brown, etc).  This fig does GREAT in the Deep South all the way to the Gulf.  It does not split or rot easily.  Would thrive in warmer zones like 8-10.  It shows good cold hardiness, but winter protection and a warm, sunny site are always advised in zones 6-7 for figs. Don't miss this one! One of our very best. Also called 'Verte'.  An ancient Greek variety.

PLEASE NOTE:  If it is Autumn when you place your order then the plants leaves will be turning yellow and dropping.  Your figs may thus be dormant and leafless upon arrival, or may have a few leaves still but they will be ready to drop soon.

Site requirements: Full sun location. Figs will grow in a range of soil types provided the planting location is well drained. Protected yet sunny locations, such as on the South, East or West side of a building is ideal.

Size at maturity: 8-15′, depending on location, climate and care.

Pollination: This fig requires no pollination in order to set fruit.

Resistant to: Figs are known for remarkable disease and insect resistance. Green Ischia is resistant to cold, rotting, splitting after rain and fig rust (fungal disease of leaves). Ants can get interested in figs and heavy rains can make the current figs rot, so keep well-picked. Figs continue to put on new fruit constantly until frost.

Hardiness: USDA zones 8-10. Winter protection in zone 6-7 recommended.

Plant size: 3ft + in 9 inch deep nursery tree pot.

OUR NURSERY IS AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN 100% FIG BUD MITE FREE.
