Wilson's Point Reyes Grandi Caprifig Tree for sale - Dormant for winter (very small trees)
Cool hardy Caprifig - long-lasting male fruit with lots of pollen
1st season this tree has been available for sale!!! Last few trees. Won't be available until next late summer/fall. I'm keeping the price low for several reasons: They are still small trees, and we still do not know if they are persistent or not. Many people have purchased them to try out however and they have very strong roots and are vigorous growers once planted in larger pots. With the winter rush, more people than usual have been upset with shipping quality.
Please let me know if there are any issues and I'm happy to refund you, no questions asked.
I found this unique old-growth fig tree in point Reyes Station, CA. I took some cuttings and they tried to fruit before even making leaves or roots. I went and pulled all those little fruits off and several months later now their little happy leafy trees are ready for sharing with the fig community. This Capri Fig is a vigorous grower, and could make amazing rootstock or add unique genetics to any fig breeding program!
I took these cuttings fall / winter of 2021 and grew them into small trees with permission from the property owner (the Wilson Family). It was growing out from under the loading dock of the old Grandi building. Check out that photo from under the loading dock. This tree is a real survivor! I believe it may be a unique type of Capri fig growing out from under the historic building 100+ years ago. The truck is over a foot in diameter! Updated photos from others on Our Figs forum, and my own confirmation on 9/8/22 show it to be confirmed a caprifig. It's a pretty cool hardy and late fruiting breba crop which may be a great addition to your caprifig collection.
It grows vigorously so should be great for rootstock and has an awesome story.
