My favorite of all is “Burgan UNK”. I know , the name is nothing impressive. I’m sure many wonder why it is named that. Well, let me fill you all in. I discovered this tree 5 years ago growing on the side of someone’s yard. It looked planted, it really did. I tried multiple times to contact the owners of the home. After a few weeks of trying I noticed the home was for sale. Well, it sold quick and new owners moved in. I made friends with them and the rest is history. So, let’s get to the naming part. This rule goes back to the Figs for Fun days(the only fig forum) back then. If you find a tree that you suspect may have been planted you must not give it a new name. It should be given the chance to be identified by the senior fig collectors. If not identified you should put an UNK after either the street name or a descriptive name. This is the ethical way of collecting new figs. This variety ripens in July! The figs are very sweet with a combo of flavors. From a honey fig flavor to some tasting dates and raisin. It’s sugary inside holds up well to rain. It’s been proven to be a top notch fig in all zones. It also does not require pollination anyone can grow it. This is for 2 cuttings 6-8”. I will send optional rooting instructions. Profig is a licensed nursery located in Fresno California. See less
