A delicious, productive fig perfect for the Deep South. Has superior delicious flavor, production, texture, and size. Figs are medium-large, firm, round and have bright reddish pulp.  Ripens early in the season, and is known as one of the earliest figs.  Disease resistant, tight closed eye, and good for the humid South - it's a seedling of "Celeste".  Would thrive in warmer zones like 8-9. Winter protection and a warm, sunny site are always advised in zones 6-7 for figs. The LSU figs come out of the Louisiana Fig Breeding program started in the 1950s that successfully produced superior figs for the Deep South.  This is the 'JFAE" strain. One of our very best.  Cuttings propagated in tree pots, no fig pops.  Photo shows what fruit will look like when it produces.
