Description

A little over a year ago, my daughter Kate was rushed to the local hospital with an uncontrollable fever and later transported to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for advanced support. She spent around a week there with many ups and downs, as it was unknown what was going on.  While she was recovering we had to the chance to walk around the hospital grounds with her and tour one of the roof top gardens. To my surprise, she pointed out two beautiful fig trees growing in an edible garden.

Like any fig phanatic, I found a way to grab a cutting or two from each tree.  Thus, we have the variety that I am currently calling CHOP A and CHOP B.

CHOP A was growing unprotected for what seems like a number of years on a rooftop in Philadelphia, PA. It is a cold hardy, small, berry fig with dark skin, closed eye and very rich, jammy interior. The fig I tasted off of the mother tree was a bit over ripe and was starting to dry on the tree, but very good. We have since grown out a few plants from the cuttings and have fruited it successfully.

This listing is for one the cuttings pictured.
