Mariani Carini Green in 2 Gallon Container - Early Adriatic Type

This is a heritage fig originally from the town of Carini in Sicily, Italy.  

Background: This fig was brought into US (not illegal at that time) in the early 1960s.  The original lady still resides in central New Jersey.  There is also a popular local Italian restaurant owned by a gentleman from the same town of Carini.  This fig has been shared in a very closed circle of Italian families in central New Jersey over the past 10 years or so.  

Mariani Carini Green: This fig is named after my friend from whom I received the fig materials

• Hardy zone: this variety is hardy in zone 6.  My first year cuttings were only lightly mulched over winter
• Growth habit: moderately spreading, vigorous
• Leaf shape: mature leaf generally 5 lobed.  Early mature leaf can be distinctly deeply lobed.  Occasionally 3 lobed.  Glossy deep green color
• Figs: Breba crop is unknown.  Main crop figs are typical "Adriatic" type of figs.  It is my friend's favorite even after he acquired several other fig plants.  In zone 6A in central New Jersey, fig ripened in beginning of September 2021 from in-ground tree.

I did a comparison of this Mariani Carini vs other "Adriatic" figs such as White Madeira #1, Battagalia Green, JH Adriatic, Lake Spur and Unk Mercedes GEM.  Mariani Carini is different from all of them.  It is similar to Mercedes GEM and Lake Spur with 5 lobe leaves dominate.  This fig has deeply lobed leaves at very early age.  It appears this fig fruits earlier than JHA, Lake Spur and Battagalia Green.  Need more comparison vs other "Adriatic" figs.  Here is the comparison (post #29):

Plant Description: This plant was started from a terminal cutting last year.  It was stored in garage over winter and has been outside for more than one month.  The entire plant with 2 gallon container is 25" tall and the plant is 18" above soil line.  I do not use greenhouse and do not use chemical fertilizer.  The plant appears very healthy and does not show any diseases or deficiency.

The first 4 photos are for actual plant.  The next 2 photos are from in-ground trees in 2021.  The #7 is a typical young plant.  The last photo is the fig photo from my friend.

Shipping: The plant will be re-potted to a 4"x9" tree pot with some of the loose soil removed.  It will be shipped via Postal Priority or UPS to continental USA.  With the outdoor growing condition, there will be minimal transit stress.

Others: The plant does not show FMV or any other fig diseases.  But seller does not provide any explicit guarantee.
