Description

Verdolino has risen in popularity due to its very early fig production/ripening, making it a good choice for Northern states with shorter seasons.

We acquired our propagation material from the trusted seller "The1FigMan", who sourced his own material from a beloved fig community member, Mario. Mario brought this fig variety to the United States from Lake Garda, Italy.

These are small figs and the flavor is supposed to be berry/honey-like, occasionally approaching brown sugar-esque. As seen in the example image provided, the exterior color is light green with a strawberry-to-honey interior.

We are trialing this fig here in New York and propagated more than necessary in order to guarantee its preservation. This auction is for Verdolino grafted onto White Adriatic. White Adriatic has been vigorous and easy to root for us, making it a preferred rootstock.

Disclaimer: As with the majority of fig trees on the market, our trees have been exposed to FMV and either do not show any symptoms and appear to be growing without any issues or show minimal cosmetic symptoms with little impact on growth.

Given their rarity, these are expensive trees. Due to this fact, we will select a minimum 3-day shipping service and only ship Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday to ensure your tree arrives healthy and minimally shocked from transit.

FAQ

Q: When was this tree grafted?

A: We grafted our Verdolino trees in late February.

Q: Is this tree acclimated to outdoor growing conditions?

A: Technically yes, but not full sun. These have been outside in filtered sunlight. They will need to be acclimated carefully to full sun.

Q: Why are these grafted instead of rooted cuttings?

A: In our limited experience so far, Verdolino was stubborn to root on it's own. It seems to be a good candidate for grafting onto vigorous rootstocks which can then be air layered in the future if you prefer an own-root tree.
