About this Variety: LSU Strawberry was reportedly found as a single tree growing in St.Gabriel sugarcane propagation site at Louisiana State University ("LSU"). There was a large fig orchard there where a large tree of this variety was found. According to a site map produced by LSU, the point where this variety was found to be planted was marked as "strawberry."

This is a variety famous for its distinct red pulp and sought after for its strong strawberry flavor. The round figs have a thick, bright green skin that provides camouflage from birds who would sample this tasty fruit on the tree. Figs are medium in size. LSU Strawberry figs have a tight eye and good resistance to splitting, making them a great solution to wet and humid southern climates. LSU Strawberry is a common variety, and does not require the wasp for pollination. The trees are strong and fast growers, and will produce mostly 5-lobed leaves.

About This Auction: Large tree comes well-rooted in a 4 x 9.5" tree pot. Roots are strong and vigorous. Ready for transplant into ground or up-potting when you choose.

You will receive the fig tree shown in photos.
