Azores Dark - 1x Tree From Rooted Cutting

Premium complex berry fig from Azores, Portugal. Originally from Dominick Romano's collection. Highly regarded early variety with piriform shape. Small size figs with thin dark purple exterior and deep red interior with amber border. Tight eye that can dry on the tree. Cold hardy and rain resistant. Performs well in low light environments. Thick and dense pulp texture often described as having jam-like consistency. Extremely prolific grower and precocious with fruit set. Common and does not require the fig wasp. Flavor profile - intense dark berry, strawberry, concord grape.

Sourced original cuttings from Ross Raddi in 11/2020. Mother tree grown in-ground. Rooted outside late winter 2022. Planted into Ocean Floor potting soil. Used Indian River Organics (2-3-1) liquid fish fertilizer. 1-gallon sized pot. Grown outside under shade tree in Zone 8A - Norfolk, VA. Healthy with one central leader and two branches. Tree photographed is the one to be sent.
