For sale is a 2nd year combo tree. The main branch and root stock is actually Rigato del Salento (PB). At the tip, I grafted Ponte Tresa. It's a chip-n-bud graft. The tree has survived the winter and is now pushing out new growth. So, the graft union is particularly strong. The tree has completely adapted to the outside environment since early March. I did this graft because these two varieties have good contrast in flavor, color, fruit size, shape, etc. The two varieties should look interesting once established. You can always remove the Ponte Tresa graft without affecting the RdS PB tree at all.
Rigato del Salento (PB) is one of the best figs in my collection. It has excellent flavor and happens to be beautiful as well with the green and yellow stripes. It produces both brebas and main crop. The brebas are huge, close to 90 grams. This variety is exceptionally productive, likely the most productive one in my collection of 200+ varieties. Ponte Tresa is a very good Adriatic type of fig. It has a unique and interesting bell shape.
