Description

I acquired this tree a few years ago from a friend who lives in Sweden. Sweden has short, rather cool summers and this seems to be the perfect fig for these conditions. He grows all his figs in pots. It was given it's name in 2015 after being found growing there (Zone 7) for 15 years. It is said to be originally from what was formerly Yugoslavia. This tree is a bit of a slow grower at first. My tree was three years old last summer and produced it's first crop in the beginning of July. The breba crop(first picture) on this tree is phenominal. They are large figs with the taste of brown sugar and a bit of berry. The second crop ripens in early September and are jammy sweet with overtones of peach. The skin is chewy but also sweet. I've heard this is some sort of brown turkey variant but the brebas are much better than my EBT and I can't get the main crop to ripen in time here in Zone 5 to make a comparison there. Of the 75+ varieties I grow, this is one of my true favorites.

This tree was started in August, is nearly two feet tall and in a two gallon pot. I almost didn't list it because it is so big and such a wonderful fig.
