Chicago Hardy (LIVE TREE)

Hi. My name is Danny and I have fell in love with the hobby of growing and collecting figs about 6 years ago and even before that as a little boy picking figs off of my Papa's tree in Bayside Queens New York. I now live in Staten Island Zone B growing many different varieties that I want to share with you!

Up for sale is a Chicago Hardy rooted cutting off my 7-year-old in ground Tree.  I have had this tree since April 2017. I had it growing in a pot for the first three years in which it fruited for me during years 2 and 3, but it wasn't until I planted it in the ground that it really took off. I live in zone 7B NYC and I am proud to report that I have NEVER experienced ANY dieback with this tree. It is truly remarkable! It is a rapid grower and has routinely ripened its first fruits for me in early September and continuing ripening all the way until middle-end of November. Its a true workhorse! I usually prune it down to about 4-5 feet in height and it puts on about another 5-6 feet of growth per season. 

It produces and ripens hundreds of figs. The only ones that don't ripen are the ones that are still hanging on towards the beginning of December. 

The Taste is varies on the time of year and the amount of rain/sun the tree receives during the ripening process. Most people consider it a berry fig and I agree! The longer you allow the fig to hang on the tree, the sweeter, thicker, darker, and more dense the fig becomes. I have attached 10 photos below of the different colors, inside and out of the fig during different times of the year. 

This fig goes by many synonyms and I have a numerous amount of them, but this is my best producing one. It truly is the standard variety of all figs and belongs in every grower's collection! You will not be disappointed! Good Luck! 

All of my trees are professionally cleaned by being soaked in 1 part bleach to 10 parts water for 5 Minutes and stored in the fridge for 48 hours before rooting. They are all rooted in pro-mix Mycorrhizae all-purpose potting soil and are then fertilized weekly after trees are rooted and established. They are rooted under 12 hours a day of Led lights on top of heat mats. The tree you are bidding on has been shown the utmost love and care from the moment that it started its life to moment it reaches your hands!

This Tree is growing vigorously in an 8x3 Stuewe & Sons Grow pot.
