This listing is for 0.25g seed of the highly desired Rosa Bianca Eggplant.  100% organic non-genetically modified seed.  These are our extra FEDCO seeds from this season.  We buy in small bulk lots, use what's needed for family, friends, and small co-ops, then sell the remainder at a substantial discount for other growers.  All seed lots have been tested for viability.  This variety has been trialed from several sources to ensure the selection of the best strain.  100% success in the northeast.  All extra seeds are professionally packaged and labeled.  Free USPS First Class shipping to the lower 48.

Open-pollinated, high-yielding, bicolor Italian heirloom.  Gorgeous fruits, white with lavender streaking down the side, about 3–4" across and 5" long, narrow at the top and widening with indentations almost like folds in draped fabric.  Creamy texture and delicate flavor.  Fruits average 2 lb, max out at 4 lb.  Rosa needs to be coddled, particularly in the northern half of New England.  The seed needs alternating temperatures to break dormancy: warm days (preferably 80s), and cooler nights (around 70°).

Eggplant is a staple in our diet so we want a good harvest every season.  We know growing any eggplant in the northeast can be a challenge and believe it's in the seeding.  We don't direct-seed eggplant and it's one of the varieties we set on a heat mat, indoors.  We use the heat mats for fig cuttings, hot peppers, and some other flowers so it's not a big deal.  Set it at 85° degrees and after they pop lower to about 79.  Heat mats can dry out a light medium quickly so be sure to keep them moist.  After culling we lower the temps for a period, then begin to wean them off in time for planting.  After that all of our eggplant seem to take care of themselves.  I think giving eggplant a warm head-start and planting in the early summer really helps them to mature properly.  If you don't have a heat mat simply wait a bit longer to direct seed or set up a small high-tunnel.

Shipping and Combined Shipping

NYCfigs ships on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

We never 'pass the savings' of expensive shipping charges to the customer and always ship as economically as possible.  Sometimes this becomes a juggling act between cost-of-goods vs. cost-of-container vs. shipment size vs. shipping cost vs. margins.  With combined shipping, it's all in the packing and we'll always find the most inexpensive shipping method available.  But there are times when it's impossible to ship economically and we'll always let you know before paying.  The shipping for all items sold by NYCfigs will combine automatically with all other items purchased from NYCfigs.  Items that ship free can't be discounted.  In the rare instance of excess shipping charges, NYCfigs will refund after the invoice is paid.  This ensures your items are received in a timely manner.
